  • 10.14.11 2nd Annual “An Evening Under the Dome”, San Diego MoM Friday 10.21

Gary Jules benefits the San Diego Museum of Man Friday October 21st at the 2nd Annual “An Evening Under the Dome with Gary Jules”.  Tix and information are available HERE.  Come on down.  Last year’s show was amazing.  Official press release follows:

San Diego Museum of Man presents

Under the Dome - An Evening With Gary Jules

Singer/songwriter Gary Jules returns to headline his second Under the Dome benefit concert.  Growing up in La Jolla, Gary visited SDMoM with his childhood friend and SDMoM CEO, Dr. Micah D. Parzen.  Gary went on to study anthropology at UCLA and has traveled extensively throughout the world.  Gary’s shared interest in SDMoM’s mission is found not only in his generosity of spirit, but also in a common thread throughout his many thought-provoking songs.

Gary has a solid and loyal fanbase and is best known for his haunting cover of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World”.  Several of his songs have also been featured on “Grey’s Anatomy.”  Gary has appeared on the The Jay Leno Show and Last Call with Carson Daly.  He has also been featured in Billboard, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone and on VH-1.  He has also shared the stage with Bob Dylan, Jack Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Jason Mraz, Liz Phair, and Todd Rundgren among others.

Zeke Piestrup of VH-1’s show “Fresh” called Jules “The best American singer-songwriter to emerge out of the late ’90’s - and the only one worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence with Paul Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and Nick Drake.”

SDMoM’s Under the Dome benefit concert series artists whose music and message align with SDMoM’s mission.  This benefit concert series is another step in the direction of re-branding SDMoM as a place to gather to exchange new ideas, enjoy unique cultural events, provoke conversation and become a destination for tourists and local visitors alike.

  • 9.20.11 New GJ Single Available on iTunes 9/27 — New Album in 2012

    Greetings –

I’ve spent a lot of this summer in Los Angeles recording a new record.  No title or release date yet.  But should be out in early 2012.  Can’t tell you how excited I am about it.

In the meantime, I’ve started recording some stuff with my friend Justin Glasco who’s been playing live shows with me for the last couple of years.  JG’s a super talented dude who has played both drums and keys in my road band, and also produces, writes, and arranges music.  Last week we finished a cover (!) of Cheap Trick’s I Want You to Want Me at his studio, and after playing it for a few key friends I’ve decided we should share it.  Click HERE to listen on iTunes.

The track features special guests Holly Conlan (vocals) and Ken Oak (cello).

It was really fun to do.  I hope you enjoy it.  Tell all your friends.

More news coming soon.  Best,  GJ
